The first and only project of ISBAF is the Multi-State Lighthouse Board Training Project.  ISBAF chose this board training project because it: 

• is based on sound research;
• provides training to district leaders (the entire board, key administrators and teacher leaders) so they can learn to work together as a team on the key conditions for school improvement;
• has sufficient training, coaching and follow-up work to change the expectations and the culture of a district; and most importantly,
• improves student achievement.

ISBAF was not able to find another program that had this level of impact or that would be effective for small rural districts as well as medium sized and urban districts.
