Election Date Consolidation

Consolidated  Dates:

 

The third Tuesday in May of each year; and

The Tuesday following the first Monday in November of each year.

 

School districts and community colleges may also hold elections on

 

The second Tuesday in March of each year; and

The last Tuesday of August of each year.

Activity for the next Legislative Session 

The Idaho School Boards Association and the Association of Counties have been charged with working over the summer to find a date to replace the last Tuesday in August. Many school districts have indicated they would prefer a date in September but the counties are concerned about their  large workloads in September due to levy certifications and preparing absentee ballots for the November election.

 

Another amendment to the law is necessary to prevent a school board from having four trustees elected in one year. The transition from three to four years needs to addressed for school districts that fit into Idaho Code Section 33-503A(1)(c).
