Free Legal Helpline

Call ISBA's General Counsel to get help making legally sound decisions.  The ISBA General Counsel can help interpret law and administrative rules in light of the specific decisions facing your district.  This advice is always a supplement to, and not a replacement for, the legal advice from each district's local counsel.    Districts are provided unlimited phone calls to the ISBA Legal Helpline.  Our staff will answer questions that take 20 minutes or less to research.  Simply call our toll-free number, (866) 799-4722.

Legal Research Services

ISBA provides members legal research at reduced fees for issues that are above and beyond the 20-minute phone call limit.

Legal Publications

The ISBA Esquire Newsletter is published quarterly. The Esquire provides timely and up-to-date information on case law and issues pertinent to education and school governance. The publication is provided at no cost to members. Non-members may purchase a subscription to the Esquire for $150/year.

Workshops and Board Training

Education Law experts provide workshops at ISBA's Fall Convention. However, if your district would like to schedule an on-site legal workshop or board training, ISBA can bring the experts to you!  Consider having other districts in your area join in the training and share the cost.
