Agenda
 & Registration

Registration: It’s not too late to register for Day on the Hill! If you haven’t registered, you can do so at the link above.

Agenda: The agenda is available at the above link. Day on the Hill is your opportunity to meet with your legislators to discuss issues impacting your district and State. This year’s conference will include attendance at the House and Senate Education Committee meetings, a Legislative Workshop, a luncheon with legislators to help you have valuable one-on-one conversations, and more.

*NEW TIME* Building Relationships with Legislators Workshop: ISBA staff will again be providing a presentation during the event. This workshop will help trustees and district administration in discussing education issues and promoting what is best for education in Idaho with the Legislators in each of your communities. This workshop will cover how to contact legislators (via e-mail, snail mail, and in person), how to write letters that articulate the talking points for this year’s legislative session, and how to construct an elevator speech to share with both legislators and community members. This will be a hands-on workshop where you will get to practice these skills, send an e-mail, and write a letter to YOUR representative. Come prepared to talk, act, and learn. This workshop has been moved to Monday, Feb. 11th from 2:00 – 3:30 pm.

*NEW* Legislative Listening Hearing: There will be a Joint House Education and Senate Education Committee listening hearing on Monday, Feb. 11th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. This is your opportunity to testify before these two committees on what education issues are important to you and your community.

*NEW* Common Core Workshop: The ISBA has coordinated with Common Core Standards staff of the Boise School District to provide a short workshop on Common Core and how it effects your district. This workshop will be held on Tuesday, February 12th from 1:30 – 2:15 pm at the Grove Hotel.

Food Allergies/Restrictions: Two meals will be provided during the event. Tuesday morning is a breakfast at the Grove Hotel and that afternoon is the Luncheon with Legislators, again at the Grove Hotel. If you have any food allergies or restrictions, please let me know as soon as possible so we can work with the hotel to accommodate your needs.

Transportation: The Grove Hotel and Capitol Building are approximately five blocks apart. Last year we heard that many of the attendees preferred to walk versus transportation by bus. We have not secured bus transportation, however, will have alternate transportation available for those who would like it. Please let me know at your earliest convenience if you will need transportation so we can accommodate your needs.

Name Badges & Packets: Please refer to the Agenda for the days and times the registration desk will be open. We understand it may be more convenient for some to pick up their registration materials at the Capitol building instead of the Grove Hotel. After checking with staff at the Capitol, they will not allow our group to have a registration desk at the Capitol because our event is not directly associated with the Legislature or Capitol building. We apologize for this inconvenience and wish we had better news. As a reminder, you can attend the Senate Education and House Education Committee meetings without your name badge or packets. Those meetings are open to everyone.

Registration Packets
When you pick up your name badge, we will also provide you with a registration packet. The packet includes several documents to help you access your legislators and hopefully answer questions you may have. In the event you would like to preview the packet online ahead of time, we have included those documents on our website below. We will have all of these documents printed and ready for you at registration.
