With inflationary pressures and rising healthcare costs that continue to strain district/charter finances, boards are likely to navigate challenging conversations without corresponding increases in state funding. Compounding these challenges is the ongoing volatility of federal funding and a likely ‘freeze’ of teacher and staff increases, which can affect both planning and sustainability. ISBA is convening a panel of experienced school leaders to help school boards anticipate and oversee potential budget reductions for the 2026–27 school year.
