Hello,
We are just ONE WEEK AWAY from the start of ISBA’s ANNUAL CONVENTION!
We already have over 500 attendees signed up to attend. This year’s Annual Convention will provide many opportunities for learning and collaboration. This page provides some of the last-minute information you’ll want to know.
- Date and Location: November 6-8, 2019 at the Coeur d’Alene Resort.
- Agenda: We’ve got another full agenda for this year’s Convention. Be sure to take a look at the agenda when making your travel plans. It can be found here: Agenda
- Registration: It’s not too late to register. You can find all of the details, including the registration form, fees, and other details on the Registration page here: Convention Registration.
- Workshops: We have quite the lineup of workshop topics this year! You can expect a great learning experience again this year. There is something for everyone, no matter your position at the district or charter school. The workshop schedule can be found here: Workshops
- Keynote Speakers: This year’s keynote speakers bring dynamic backgrounds and learning opportunities. Jamie Vollmer is an award-winning advocate for public education who uses statistics, logic, and humor to help school boards, superintendents, and staff achieve their goals. Pam Moran and Ira Socol help school boards and superintendents to find solutions to the grand challenges of educating contemporary learners facing an ever-evolving future. For more details on these keynotes, visit the Convention page here: Convention Main Page.
- Lip Sync Battle: The last three years’ Lip Sync Battles were such a hit; we are doing it again. Do you think you’ve got the skills to beat the other attendees? Pick your winning song, start practicing, and sign up for this competition by contacting Mika at the ISBA Office (mika@idsba.org.)
- Scholarship Auction: Come join the fun and support the ISBA Scholarship Trust. Funds generated from the ISBA Scholarship Auction provide scholarships to high school seniors who are children and grandchildren of Idaho’s school board members. The ISBA Scholarship Trust has awarded over $168,000 in scholarships in the past 18 years. These scholarships would not be possible without those attendees who donate and buy items at the Scholarship Auction each year. Please consider bringing a donation item to the Convention and bidding during the live and silent auctions. And remember, the Scholarship Trust is a 501(c)(3) so your donations are tax-deductible! More details are available here: Scholarship Auction.
- School Spirit Day: Be sure to wear your school’s colors on Friday for School Spirit Day!
- Food Allergies / Dietary Restrictions: If you have not already done so, please let Morgan (morgan@idsba.org) know of any food allergies or restrictions as soon as possible. ISBA will work with the Coeur d’Alene Resort to provide those attendees with food restrictions other meal options. Please submit any food allergy/restriction ASAP.
- Plan Accordingly: Winter is showing up early around all parts of the state. As you plan your Convention attire, we recommend you check the weather for Coeur d’Alene and also know that some of the workshops will be held in the boats along Lake Coeur d’Alene. While the boats are heated, attendees who participate in those boats will be walking outside and on the boat dock in order to enter the boats.
We look forward to seeing you at the Convention!
