I thought it was a great experience and I will be back next year.
We hope you will enjoy your few days with us in Boise. In addition to the presentations that ISBA will make to the House and Senate Education Committees, we have two great workshops planned for you.
Also, you will have an opportunity to have lunch with your legislators. The purpose of the lunch with your legislators is to discuss the things that are impacting your district and to encourage their vote on key issues, especially those related to resolutions that have been passed by ISBA.
Monday’s workshop is titled: Communicating Across the Divide – From Misunderstanding to Teamwork. In an increasingly polarized world, navigating conversations with those who hold differing perspectives can feel daunting. This presentation offers practical strategies to foster understanding, build trust, and create a collaborative dialogue – even in challenging discussions. Learn how to listen actively, manage emotions, and find common ground while respecting differences. Whether in the workplace, classroom, or community, these tools will help you turn conflict into connection and promote meaningful progress.
Our Tuesday workshop will be held after lunch with your legislators and is called Planning for Success – Essentials of Strategic Planning. Strategic planning is the cornerstone of achieving organizational goals and fostering long-term success. Does your district or charter school have goals, vision, tactics, strategies, objectives, and other strategic planning jargon? This presentation will demystify strategic planning by clarifying the terms used while breaking the process into essential elements. Participants will leave with a basic understanding of how to create a dynamic, results-driven plan that aligns resources, engages stakeholders, and ensures adaptability in a rapidly changing environment.
In addition to these two workshops, Superintendent Debbie Critchfield and other constitutional officers will be presenting on Idaho’s education outlook, and Sullivan and Reberger will be on hand to discuss the current political landscape in Idaho. Also, The Idaho Center for Fiscal Policy’s tax and budget experts will discuss the shifting and shrinking of Idaho’s revenue, and what that means for education policy priorities and investment in the future.
If you have any questions while you are here, please feel free to ask any of our staff. We hope you find the ISBA Day on the Hill worthwhile and that you enjoy your stay in Boise.
