About Jesse
Jesse Howard is a retired Iowa Army National Guard First Sergeant, leadership author, speaker, and founder of NextGen Leadership Consulting LLC. He is the author of Beyond The Call: The Team BEAST Leadership Blueprint, a book focused on leadership, team culture, trust, and building organizations that thrive.
Jesse served more than two decades in the military, retiring in October 2024 as a First Sergeant in the Iowa Army National Guard. During his service, he helped lead and develop Team BEAST, an Iowa Army National Guard recruiting team known for its strong culture, high performance, and commitment to excellence.
Jesse currently works full time as a Business Development Representative for Simbli by eBOARDsolutions, where he partners with school boards and education leaders to support effective governance, strategic planning, policy management, board operations, and superintendent evaluation. Through this work, he continues to support the important role local boards play in serving students, staff, and communities.
In addition to his professional work, Jesse serves as President of the Iowa Association of School Boards. He previously served eight years on his local school board for the New London Community School District and currently serves as a Trustee for Southeastern Community College.
Jesse is married to his wife, Kasi, and together they have two children, Mila and Mason. Whether serving in the military, public education, board governance, or leadership development, Jesse is passionate about helping leaders build stronger teams, healthier cultures, and lasting impact while preparing the next generation of leaders.
