Thank Your Local School Leaders

Every June Idaho celebrates School Board Appreciation month. The month is about honoring the over 800 school board members across the state that dedicate their time and talents towards strengthening our public and charter schools and ensuring student success for every child. But at this moment, school board appreciation is more than expressing gratitude—it is about sounding the leadership alarm. As another school year closes in the shadow of the pandemic, burnout has taken hold of many of our school leaders. Many districts in Idaho are facing new school boards, and in some cases new superintendents.
We must recognize those that have weathered the storm and stand ready for the unknown challenges ahead. This month let’s tell the stories of our districts. Let’s tell the stories of our charter schools, of our resilient communities. Let’s inspire future school leaders to this profession and thank the everyday heroes that have stood at the public education helm.
How can you celebrate? ISBA has sample activities for each district or charter school to use this year. Check out our School Board Appreciation toolkit for templates, logos, and ideas for how you can thank a local school leader in June.
